About

I have been teaching people how to play music since 1986, that's more than 30 years! I love teaching. I love helping students overcome barriers and learn something new. While I specialize in working with adults, I'm also interested in working with teenagers that have a passion for the styles of music I teach: Celtic music, bluegrass, Klezmer, world music.

Ive studied mandolin with Adam Sweet for seven years, and I know him to be a truly committed musician and teacher. His sterling background of academic training and long record of performance in both classical and popular groups enables the student to easily cross boundaries of musical taste. He is a master of an orchestra of instruments-- mandolin, viola, fiddle, guitar, bouzouki--to name a few, and skilled in many musical genres including classical, celtic, bluegrass, klezmer, and others. He organizes ensembles of students to teach us group rehearsal and performance, His studio is within hailing distance of I-91 and the Mass. Pike, and his fees are fair. Its a good option if you are looking to take on a new instrument or to master your favorite.

Adam is a skilled mandolin player and is well-versed in all genres of mandolin music. He has a vast knowledge of music and music history. Adam teaches you the proper hand position right from the beginning, unlike other mandolin teachers Ive had. I have learned more in the 2 years that I have been with him than I had in the previous 8 years. If you are prepared to practice, you will definitely see improvement.
