Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer new students lessons at a reasonable rate of $20-$25 for an hour lesson. If they want a shorter time, I adjust my rate accordingly. On some quotes, I charge an extra $5 if there is more than 1/2 travel time. I outline that I teach tuning, chords, harmony, progressions and offer them the added feature of selecting their own songs. Additionally, I offer vocal lessons combined with guitar.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have performed in bands and have many years of experience with vocal groups.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is dependant on the customer needs.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started teach beginning guitar as that is the area that I have expertise and am a patient teacher. I emphasis practice on their own as a way to improve their skills. I previously taught guitar in an after school program for 3rd & 4th graders.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with children as young as 6 years old all the way up to elderly people. I have since stopped teaching children under 10 years old as they have limited skills and attention span issues.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am currently teaching a mature woman that is a wonderful singer with help in playing guitar. She has an ability to play guitar beyond a beginner level. She is a joy to work with and she is very appreciative. I also have a 12 year old student that is a fast learning and is interested in learning more.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advise is to have the student practice outside the lesson in order for them to make progress.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
The customer should understand their needs and ask about my qualifications.
