At The Minor Chord, we help you achieve YOUR goals for making music. Our teachers want to help you make the kind of music that inspires you - so they adjust their teaching style to meet your needs. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player, we want to help you take your playing to the next level.

Our teachers are all active and enthusiastic musicians, and they love sharing their love of muysic with their students. For our teaches, it is super rewarding to see s tudent progress, bringing their playing to a new level and giving the student much satisfaction.

Many of our teachers play along with their students during lessons, giving the student experience making music with others. (Unfortunately, virtual lessons during the COVID-19 pandemic make this difficult for technical reasons.)

    Frequently asked questions

Our first step is to find out their goals for making music. Then we assess their current situation. Finally, we come up with a plan to get from where the student is currently at (whether a beginner or an experienced player) to where they want to go.

Each of our teachers has extensive musical background intheir instrument. Many have music performance degrees and have studied with prominent players. All are mature teachers with a frienfly student-first approach.

Yes, our usual lesson is 30 minutes, and lessons are weekly. We find that this is enough time for a student to present their pervious week's work, get some pointers from their teacher, and have the teacher assign new work based on their progress.

Each of our teachers loves making music and started teaching to share their love of music with others.

We work with everyone - beginners to experienced players, and all ages - from about 6-7 years old (depending on instrument) through retirees.

Have a trial lesson with the teacher! Our teachers offer free, no-obligation trial lessons. Teachers have different teaching styles, and students have different learning styles. It's important that you and your teacher "click".

Decide what you want to achieve. It's OK to say, for example, "I just want to play pop songs in a simple style." Or, on the other hand, you could say "I want to study seriously to prepare for my Conservatory auditions." We have had both types of student - and everyone in between.
