About
As an engineer I see the fretboard very differently from most musicians and teachers. I'm one of those rare engineers that can write and organize my thoughts and communicate them in a way that both kids and adults can follow and understand. I'm a student of the guitar myself, and plan to be forever. Much of what I do is to train. And I'll train right alongside you. I'm no expert. But I'm patient, and I'm passionate about the guitar and music in general
I'm a student myself, and as much as I enjoy experiencing my own "lightbulb" moments, it's so much more satisfying to see my students experience them. Whether you plan to be a performing or studio musician, or a hobby guitarist in your bedroom (that's me!), there's little more that's rewarding than putting your mind to something and coming out the other side with a victory. Well, there is something more rewarding than that; it's watching your student achieve it, too!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I offer a free, no-strings-attached, introductory lesson to all prospective students where we can determine a quick and efficient path to get you to your goals. Some conversation, some hands-on guitar work, some demonstration of what you can expect.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'd been a self-taught guitarist for 20+ years before starting over "correctly" with real instruction that systematically erased the very-strongly-ingrained bad habits that I didn't know I'd built. My instructor, over the years, then convinced me to begin teaching myself. I'm still a student myself, and plan to be forever. My instructor actually teaches teaching guitar, and I've been through his training programs.
Further, I'm an engineer. I see the fretboard (and the process of learning) a bit differently from "traditional" guitar players and teachers. To me the fretboard is a map and understanding how to navigate that map is the secret to playing fluently all over the fretboard.
