About

As a teacher I truly believe that music education fosters the skills that students can apply across their whole lives. Problem solving, independent learning, resilience training, listening skills, no fear of failure, and a life rooted in creativity.

Students will find that lessons are rooted in foundation while still fun, filled with laughter, personalized to their needs as a person and a musician, and that music will teach them so much more than they can believe!

With a Bachelor's in Keyboard Performance and Composition, a Masters in Composition, and a Graduate Performance Diploma in Piano Performance, I can offer you student a wide range of topics to dive into. Students who are interested in classical piano, pop piano, writing songs, music theory and history, and even music psychology will find a happy home in my studio that focuses on inclusivity and finding a musical voice for every studnet no matter where they are starting from!

I love working with students of all ages and seeing the bridges in their day to day life that music can build, grow, and help to maintain! The creativity, interesting conversations, and warmth that music lessons provide for both teacher and student make this a profession I am extremely passionate about!

    Frequently asked questions

The most important place to start is with the students goals and wishes! I will assess what style of music they are interested in, what goals they have for the long journey of study, what music excites them and the full width of topics they are interested/not-interested in.

Of course we will also look at where they are coming from in terms of experience. We will work through some into exercises to test their listening skills, motor skills, knowledge of geography of the instrument, etc. so that we can find the perfect place to start from.

I also believe its very important for families to participate and be supportive of new students - especially as they are in a beginning stage! Helping your child to find a practice rhythym, provide a supportive and functional evironment, and be engaged, is essential to their growth.
