Joanna Schubert Music Studio

Hi everybody! My name is Joanna, and I am a teacher of piano, voice, piano/voice (where students learn to accompany themselves while singing), chorus, and general music, as well as an arranger, composer, and music director. I have been teaching since around 2012, and absolutely love it. Currently, I teach private lessons in Cambridge and Dorchester, group voice ensembles in Pop and Musical Theater styles at the New School of Music in Cambridge, and general music for Pre-K through 5th grade at the JP Manning School in Jamaica Plain.

If I have one philosophy as a teacher it is the following: I find that it can be hard for students to find the discipline to practice and improve on their instrument of choice if they don't have the motivation within themselves. My goal as a teacher is to connect with and relate to students through what they love, which then serves as the pathway to finding genuine enjoyment in music. And guess what? When students genuinely love music, they WANT to practice! And then they are able to thrive.
