About

A little about me, I have a B.M. in Music Education from Syracuse University and a duel master's degree in Instrumental Conducting and Oboe Performance from George Mason University. I believe that open communication builds trust between families and private instructors!

I currently teach private oboe lessons to students age 11-18 and also sell reeds to my students! My Etsy shop can be found here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/MaddysReeds

I plan to get to know your student on a personal level to make sure each lesson we have together builds on their unique talents and skills. Every lesson will build on the previous knowledge we have established in the prior lessons so every student's musical abilities grow each week.

When my daughter came home to tell me she picked the oboe to play at school, my anxiety level went sky high. I tried helping her at home but with what little knowledge I had, we were getting nowhere. Maddy was just what she needed. Now, all I have to do is tell my daughter to practice and make sure she gets her weekly lessons with Maddy. She’s even learned to love the instrument and is going to be taking woodwinds next year! I’m hoping we’ll have a decent oboist in the home in the near future thanks to Maddy.

Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student, I would love to have a meeting with the student and the guardians so we can all discuss the student's goals for private lessons!

I have a B.M. in Music Education from Syracuse University after graduating in May 2020. I have training teaching all instruments, including all Concert Band and Orchestra instruments in addition to vocals.

Lessons will be $60 per hour or $30 for 30 minutes. An hour is recommended so we can work on oboe and reed making in one lesson!

I began working in schools when I was fourteen and have been studying music since I was six years old. Learning music is an essential part of all students' education and can truly impact their experiences in school. Taking private lessons is an opportunity for students to truly experience all the benefits music has to offer.

I have worked will students from the ages four to twenty-six. I have worked will all populations of learners. I have taught music to students ages eight to twenty-six and I have taught English and math skills to students ages four to thirteen. I have taught music at a post-secondary institution for students with different learning abilities.
