About

Lily Chang is a Taiwanese pianist currently pursuing doctoral-level studies in Piano Performance (DMA studies) in the United States. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Tainan University of Technology in 2021 and later continued her graduate studies in piano performance in the U.S., where she has worked extensively in both solo performance and collaborative settings.

During her studies, Lily received a young scholarship offer from Lee University and actively participated in masterclasses with internationally recognized pianists, including Christopher Guzman and other distinguished artists. She also gained extensive accompanying experience, performing for conductor studio lessons, vocal literature classes, and collaborative performances throughout her academic career.

Lily currently serves as a Teaching Assistant for Keyboard Skills I & II at George Mason University, where she works closely with university-level students in piano proficiency, sight-reading, technique, harmonization, and musicianship training. Her teaching combines strong technical foundations with a deep emphasis on musical expression, tone production, and stylistic understanding.

As a performer, Lily’s artistic interests focus particularly on late Romantic, Russian, and contemporary repertoire. She is especially drawn to expressionism, serialism, polytonality, and emotionally intense musical language, while also maintaining a passion for lyrical and expressive pianism. Her repertoire and interpretations are influenced by both traditional European pianistic traditions and modern artistic exploration.

In addition to her academic and performance activities, Lily is also an active private piano instructor in the New England area, offering lessons for students of all ages and levels. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes healthy technique, musical imagination, score understanding, and cultivating each student’s unique artistic voice.

Lily has been accepted to the University of Memphis for DMA studies and has continued building her professional career through performances, teaching, and collaborative artistic projects in the United States.
