About
I've been teaching at a small school and music shop since 2021, and I've taught everything from folk to hard rock. I love music, and I love teaching and helping my students grow.
I also provide my own materials for students, so they don't have to buy any books or resources unless they want to. I've got a huge collection of songs and tabs for us to learn from!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I want to establish you musical goals. The Sky's the limit!
Then, we'll learn the basics: caring for your instruments, how to hold and play your guitar, and how to read music. We'll also go over how to practice and get the most from our lesson time. After we've gotten that out of the way, we'll start learning exercises to build your finger strength and accuracy. I'll also start giving you music and songs to learn
I usually get people through the first few steps in a few weeks, and by your 3rd or 4th lesson we'll be making music! What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took professional lessons for 8 years and have been playing for over half my life. I've had the opportunity to play with some awesome people, and right now am playing in 2 bands. I didn't go to school for music, but college is where I started teaching guitar for the first time, and I was able to learn about music theory and performing while there. I've been teaching professionally since 2021 at Music and Arts, as well as Bach to Rock.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
How did you get started teaching?
The first lessons I taught were to some friends in college who wanted to learn some guitar. After that, I taught private lessons from time to time.
During the pandemic I started teaching online to make some extra money, and when things opened up again I got a job teaching at Music and Arts. I also began teaching at a small school called Bach to Rock, and right now I have about 40 students between the two. What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly brand new students, but at any age. I've also worked with some more intermediate and advanced students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My nephew and I have become really close. He loves listening to music, and whenever I pick up the guitar he wants to sit in my lap and try to play along.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Follow the fun! Being a good guitar player takes a lot of hard work, but with the right teacher and information it'll be fun and easy.
Play hard, rock easy! What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What kind of music do I like?
