Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I work with a new student based on their individual experience and needs. Age is a factor along with attention span and hand size.
I enjoy working with students of all ages. I recommended that the student practice daily as piano playing relies on muscle memory along with ear training and note recognition.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended the University of Texas, Mannes College of Music and Hunter College in New York City. My degree was in voice with a minor in piano. I taught privately and at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in N.Y. My vocal career ranged from a solo recital debut at the Carnegie Recital Hall to singing in the chorus at the Metropolitan Opera house and musical theatre. I taught music at St. Joseph's School, the Odyssey School and at Coppin here in Baltimore. Some of my students moved on to graduate with a degree in acting from N.Y.U.

My price is $30 for half an hour and $50 for an hour.
Special arrangements may be made for long term lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I always enjoyed performing and always seemed to have a gift for sharing and helping others to achieve.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginning and advanced students. I think the main responsibility of a teacher is to help a student enjoy the learning experience and to be proud of their accomplishments.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I traveled to D.C. to watch a former student perform in a show that he had co-written both the lyrics and the music. What a joy.

The goal is to work with someone who loves music and is eager to guide you on your journey.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
