About
My teaching approach: First it has to be fun and interesting, not just a boring method book one, two or three experience. I have done this long enough to know how to get people excited about making a commitment to the guitar and give you the things that will get you playing sooner then later. My influences are: Everything from surf guitar, country, classic rock & blues. I love jazz guitar and classical as well. So many nice players I enjoy, just too many to list. Think of playing the guitar as a buffet of food with lots of good things to try. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's home studio. Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours: Monday thru Fridays appointment only. I also do some Saturday morning teaching but not every week for Saturdays. I play weddings and other performance gigs that tie up that day. Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Guidance In Equipment Selection. Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: Depends on their level so a beginner is much different from someone who already has some skills. I do assess how much they know and what they are looking to do with their goals. From that point I move them in a direction that will get them there from my 30 plus years of teaching experience. The qualities I look for in an ideal student : The ideal student is one that does practice every day and understands that they have to do the work to improve.
First I love the guitar but also enjoy meeting new people all the time. I love seeing students improve and the joy they get from learning to play music on the guitar.
