I have been performing as a professional classical guitarist for over 25 years. I have at least 15 years of experience teaching guitar, including teaching at Dale Music Co. and Montgomery College Music Department as an adjunct guitar instructor. I am currently on the faculty of the Maryland Music Academy in Columbia, Maryland. I started guitar lessons when I was 8 years old, and have studied with a few well known concert guitarists. I have performed in master classes with internationally recognized guitarists, have given solo guitar recitals in several concert halls, as well as performed in international guitar festivals. I have made several guitar transcriptions, and have released three CDs of solo guitar music. I enjoy and highly value the opportunity to help students reach their musical goals, whatever those may be. I try to make the lessons both interesting and fun. I emphasize both good technique and music reading skills, as well as the fundamentals of music theory.
Very flexible. Allowed me to have input on what we would cover for lessons. Very accommodating - worked with me to reschedule when outside appointments affected designated lesson time. Very good rates. Does not watch the clock - lessons do not end abruptly according to time but conclude at natural moment when the points of the lesson have been conveyed.
I started out learning guitar on my own but after a few months I realized I needed structure to advance. I had my first lesson with Steve today. I had a great time! Highlight of my week. I like that we started out discussing music and the books I already had before we started playing. I'm looking forward to continuing to take classes with Steve.
