Since I studied with the legendary Reverend Gary Davis back in the 1960s and played with virtually every important Black and white Blues musician I bring a special amount of experience as well as knowledge to my students.
Like I said, I learned guitar from Reverend Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt, Johnny Shines, Dave Van Ronk, and other great musicians who are no longer with us. So to me, being a member of the last generation to learn from these great musicians, I feel I have a special need to pass on their tradition both musically and culturally.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I let my student tell me what they need and then I evaluate how they're approaching what they're doing and we first start by trying to break any bad habits, of which there are often a lot. I cure my lessons towards listening to the student and helping them accomplish what they want in the best and most efficient way.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I already answered this but I can repeat that I've been playing guitar for almost 60 years, took guitar lessons from Reverend Gary Davis, Dave Van Ronk, new and learn things from Mississippi John Hurt and Johnny Shines as well as the number of other acoustic blues greats. I played professionally at many folk festivals, both solo and as a member of a band and think I bring a unique insight and heritage to my lessons.
