I have been playing music in one form or another for over 40 years. I took my first guitar lesson when I was 5 and have never looked back. Along the way I have developed a passion for music both performing as well as writing original music. I have released 4 solo projects as well as a band EP. I am also on the Worship Arts team at Crossroads Community Church (10 years). I have given lessons for the last 15 years and love passing the love and the knowledge of music on to someone else. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first assess what they know or don’t know about their instrument, and get a feel for their goals for the lessons. Then I develop a curriculum that brings them along towards their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken guitar lessons from ages 5-7 and then spent the rest of my life studying music, training my ears to hear individual parts in a song instead of just the song as a whole. I have also learned,through this same process, song structure and what chords would fit what key in a song. I have played with and studied many musicians over the years which has helped me get to where I am.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $20/ half hour. Generally that is the length of lesson I do but am flexible enough to alter that. For example, I usually do one half hour lesson a week per student but could do an hour lesson every other week if that is better for the student. Or it could be an hour every week, whatever the student and I can work out.
How did you get started teaching?
I basically have taught off and on for quite a few years now and I grew out of wanting to share my love of Music with others besides performing writing or recording. To pass on knowledge can spark someone to be the next Eddie Van Halen or a songwriter like Bob Dylan...

I have worked with students of all ages and experience levels.
