Winner of 6 Detroit Music Awards, recording artist and band leader, I have been teaching private lessons for all levels and styles for 40 years out of my home in Ann Arbor. Presently also offering on-line video lessons via FaceTime and Zoom. Many of my students are first chair performers in the Ann Arbor School district as well as private schools. I have an encouraging and friendly approach to learning where I create an atmosphere so that the student can relax and feel confident that I there to help them on whatever level they want to acheive. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first inquire if the student is a complete beginner and if not, how long they have been playing, what lesson book method they are using (if any) or songs they are presently working on. Then I can ascertain a plan for where to start. Also asking the student what they would like to acheive and what styles they are interested in.
