About

I have performed and taught a variety of styles including rock, blues, and jazz among others. I'm particularly fond of early blues and slide guitar. I have been teaching steadily around the Metro Detroit area for over 15 years at a number of studios and currently teach at Guitar Center in Canton. I have taught students from ages nine to ninety and have enjoyed working with them all.

I like helping someone learn a song that they've always wanted to play. I know what it's like to feel that sense of accomplishment when you can finally play something that you love. It's a great feeling and I like sharing that with my students.

Frequently asked questions

Every student is unique and has different goals and expectations.  For new students I teach them the basic skills needed to play and read and then move to their individual musical interests.  Adults students usually have something particular in mind and my goal with them is getting them to play what they want to play as quickly as possible. For younger students I introduce them to a variety of styles and techniques that will allow them to pursue and master any musical genre.

I started playing in rock and roll bands in junior high and high school and currently perform in a band that plays around the state.  I studied classical guitar in college and attended master classes at the University of Miami.   I have been teaching steadily around the Metro Detroit area for the past 15 years in a number of studios as well as out of my home.

I charge $20 per half hour for lessons in my home and $60 per hour for lessons in your home.

I took some guitar lessons in high school and when my instructor went on vacation for two weeks he asked me to sub for him.

I have worked with students as young as 7 (I don't recommend starting younger than this), and as old as 90.  I have taught a number of students who have started they're own bands and have also helped students audition for admission to Wayne State's music school.  I have taught blues, rock, and country and jazz as well as a variety of fingerpicking styles.

Ask them questions and try them out for a lesson.

Are you able to help me learn what I want to? What styles do you most enjoy teaching?
