My teaching approach:

When teaching a student the first thing i like to do is ask what they want to learn, there is no sense in making them learn modes and scales when all they really want to do is jam some rock n roll. In the case you do want to learn in depth theory that's just fine, i will work with you for as long as you need. I teach using my bass and my guitar (depending on student needs) through a Kustom 25 watt amp. When teaching about recording i start with FL Studio 10 and can work up to pro-tools depending on student wants and needs.

I ask the student what he or she hopes to get out of taking lessons with me. As far as assessment goes i simply observe without judgement, everyone is a beginner at some point, its easy the see what a student needs as long as they are comfortable.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Lessons with me vary on what a student would like to learn. Ether we spend an hour dissecting a song or we spend our time running through theory. When looking into theory i find that its good to have a notebook, there's quite a bit to learn!

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:
