About
I have taught the fundamentals of playing guitar and banjo for over 30 years. The very first thing is that the student needs to understand how music theory works. Once they get on that path the doors of possibilities are endless. I also give discounts to veterans.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Music theory and understanding comes first. Once a student understands how theory works, the applications will just fall into place. Doesn't matter the genre of music.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rates are a LOT lower than 99% of those out there. Where most people charge $30 for a 30 minute lesson. I only charge $20 for UP to an hour. I feel it is more beneficial to discuss that day's lesson and not restrict it to time. The lesson is more important.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching back in the mid 1980's. ( I started playing in the late 1970's). I have loved watching others pick up something that I find so much passion in. Now that I am a disabled veteran myself, I find that by helping other veterans learn music it helps them deal with PTSD...
What types of students have you worked with?
Students of all ages..
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Teaching another veteran just a few months ago. He is so proud of that one lesson that he has went on every page I have and left great reviews. I open eyes to people, and show them how with practice they can achieve anything they desire.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Not to look for the best player as your instructor. See if they offer a free or a low price introductory class. Find out how they teach. Doesn't matter how good an instructor is if they can't relay to you how they play.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How would YOUR class help me in the future once I stop taking classes? Or would I have to keep coming back for more classes? When would be the best time to just start doing it on my own?
