Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To begin, I assess the student's experience, and enthusiasm level. I will also ask the student who any influences are, what they hope to gain, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graduated from The University of Michigan, School of Music, Theatre, & Dance. I earned a BFA in Jazz, & Improvisation Studies with High Honors. Additionally, I earned the James B. Angell Scholar Award, given in recogniciton of a perfect academic record for multiple, consecutive semesters.
I was also student manager of both the Creative Arts Orchestra ('07-'08), and Jazz Combo Big Band ('08-'09) ensembles.
Former teaching experience includes private lessons at Southland Music ('11-'12), and the National Guitar Workshop's DayJams Rock Music Day Camp ('08).
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching (formally) during my time at UofM. What originated as a way to earn some side-cash, developed, and evolved into something I am deeply passionate about.
