Preparation for auditioning - Musical Theater roles

Long term students - over 10 years. Most of my students have continued in their own musical careers( Off Broadway- Teachers-Members of Symphonies)  !

What I like most about teaching is the impact I can have on students lives! My students learn to discipline themselves and that discipline spills over into other areas of their life as well! Seeing growth in my students and unlocking the richness of music to their young minds absolutely thrills me!

Sylvia is awesome . She is flexible with the time and she is has great communication skills. She is always on time for the lessons and very active. She is a fantastic mentor . She made learning piano easy and my wife “Sky” was so happy to develop her skills. I highly Recommend Sylvia to be your music instructor . She is the best .

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I include 4 basic books, Lesson, Theory, Technique and Performance. The cost is approximately $30.00 to provide a way to isolate each skill and give my students a thorough and complete understanding of music at their level of understanding.  Faber and Faber is an excellent series and I use it extensively.  i also, recommend Hanon exercises as well as Czerny and others.  FIngerpower is essential and I recommend a rhythm workbook, manuscript paper and Note Speller to enhance understanding and for the practice of note writing (notation) I am patient and attempt to meet each student half way. We have a lot of fun in the process.  This help build rapport and trust

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

44+ years of experience...public and private schools...teaching music; teaching music privately for almost as long.
