About this pro

Expect to  see your child or yourself learn theory, technique, scales, sight reading, musicality ( the art of playing artistically) and more

I am pleased when I view my students growing in their talent and becoming confident and competant not ONLY MUSICALLY...BUT in taking a more mature approach as they develop into responsible citizens. Many of my students now have chosen careers in music!! I take great interest in my students and have high expectations but use a warm approach and SHOW THEM WHERE IMPROVEMENT needs to happen

Sylvia is awesome . She is flexible with the time and she is has great communication skills. She is always on time for the lessons and very active. She is a fantastic mentor . She made learning piano easy and my wife “Sky” was so happy to develop her skills. I highly Recommend Sylvia to be your music instructor . She is the best .

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I include 4 basic books, Lesson, Theory, Technique and Performance. The cost is approximately $30.00 to provide a way to isolate each skill and give my students a thorough and complete understanding of music at their level of understanding.  Faber and Faber is an excellent series and I use it extensively.  i also, recommend Hanon exercises as well as Czerny and others.  FIngerpower is essential and I recommend a rhythm workbook, manuscript paper and Note Speller to enhance understanding and for the practice of note writing (notation) I am patient and attempt to meet each student half way. We have a lot of fun in the process.  This help build rapport and trust

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

44+ years of experience...public and private schools...teaching music; teaching music privately for almost as long.
