Guitar Interludes
About
I teach flat picking (pick), fingerstyle, and true classical guitar styles, both electric and acoustic, 6 or 12 string. I also teach music theory, reading musical notation, chord charts, and guitar tabs (whatever a student would like to learn). I make guitar lessons fun and get students to play actual music quickly. I believe in getting basic chord structures, first to develop hand coordination and begin playing actual songs as soon as possible and then work into more music structure.
I am Professional Classical Guitarist, Lead Guitarist, Composer. I have performed at many different events including the Governor of Michigan, Government Events, Universities, Concerts, Weddings, and Country Clubs. In the 80's, I was a Lead guitarist in touring bands.
I enjoy seeing student learn to play the guitar at all levels, especially those who say they can never play. I enjoy brining people in to the fraternity of guitarists and have them open a whole new world of music that they can play and compose on their own.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically want to undersatnd what the students goals are; what type of music, what they are trying to accomplish. I work with them not only on the specific techniques they are looking to develop, but alos the music they want to play. I let each student progress at thier own rate and each student is taught based on thier own unque hand size/dexterity, and capabilities. I also want to undersatnd thier performace goals (if any), i.e just for some freinds, performing artist, song writer, singer/guitarist, band, etc...
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing and performing guitar for almost 50 years. I am professional performing classical guitarist. I have a classical CD out with 10 original compositions. I played in several rock bands, (touring) and had a long list of original material that I wrote. I have taught for several cities for guitar programs for adults and kids.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Please contact me. My lessons can be tailored to your needs and schedule
How did you get started teaching?
I have taught guitar most of my life, mostly after people have been to a performance and approached me.
What types of students have you worked with?
Adults, kids, absolute beginners, cross over guitarists (i.e rock guitarists who want to learn finger picking or classical or vice versa), students who want to learn to read musical notation, students who are looking to improve their technique
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that will teach you how to be musical, not just technical. Someone who won;t just take a "learn to play guitar book" and just push you to play indvidual notes. A teacher who will allow your hands to develop, while playing actual music, and then introduce you to reading music after you have become at least comfortable playing basic chords
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Know what you want to get from the guitar in terms of goals. Know hom much time you have to practice outside of the lessons (there are no short cuts to muscle memory in the hands),
