I have been teaching voice & piano for 18 years. Presently I have my own music studio in my home. Before teaching in my home I taught voice at Minnesota Valley School of Music in Richfield, MN and voice and piano at LaMusique Music Studio in Minnetonka, MN.m
I studied classical voice at Indiana University and while attending there I sang in the chorus of the Metropolitan Opera performance of “Aida”. I also studied voice at the University of Minnesota and privately with Madalyn Traun. In addition I studied vocal jazz privately and in a workshop setting with Janice Borla who was the head of the Vocal Jazz Department at North Central College in Naperville, IL as well as with Les Tucker a well known jazz performer in the Chicago area and with Vicky Mountain at the MacPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, MN. I studied piano in northern Minnesota and attended several teacher workshops at St. Thomas in St.Paul, MN and at LaMusique Music Studio in Minnetonka, MN.
I take a real interest in getting to know each student, their interests & passions not only in music but in life. I strive to encourage them along their learning journey & to make learning to sing or play the piano the fun & special experience I believe it is. I aim to provide that experience by offering a wide variety of music, methods, & activities (games, composer studies, songwriting, etc.) I also bring to each lesson all the musical experiences I’ve had such as studying voice for over 35 years, studying piano, mutual collaboration with other teachers as well as singing , writing & performing classical. spiritual, jazz, light rock & country music.
**i offer lessons to all ages from young children to adults. If you are interested in having more than 1 student have lessons, I offer a reduced rate for any additional students.
I enjoy helping my students to learn &/or improve their musical skills . I also enjoy seeing them get satisfaction when they have mastered a difficult passage in a piece whether piano or voice. I get great pleasure in getting to know each student & in helping them realize any musical goals they have for themselves.
