February 2017 and 2016 AKADEMIA Music Award for Best Ambient/Instrumental Album for Sonic Architecture and 2016’s El Angel.
“This elegantly layered work of percussion and string shimmers with genius nuances of melody – sometimes somber, elsewise exultant, ‘Sonic Architecture’ bears the complex cues of el-magico’s intriguing personality” The Akademia 2017.
“El-magico's metier heralds from the rarest aspirations in music - profoundly experimental but unfearfully aimed to the popular imagination - and the result here is a fascinating study in contrapuntal hostilities of sound and instrumentation" The Akademia 2016.
The music of El-magico, Hector Lopez, creates feels brand new and strangely familiar. The music he produces shows his musical intuition. The passion he feels for teaching and engaging people with music is inspiring. El-magico works hard every day sharing his music and talent with anyone who dares to listen and learn with him.
Teaching is like taking a glimpse into the universal pool of knowledge. You share a lot but also you learn plenty of new stuff in the process and of course you enjoy it.
Hector takes a deep interest in understanding the individual needs of each student and tailors his wide knowledge and experience to suit the learning style of his students. Every lesson leaves me with more confidence and a desire to learn more.
Hector has a great ability to dial in to the students level and teach them theory while giving them rewarding things to practice with that don't feel like theory. His breadth of musical knowledge allows him to adapt to many musical tastes, making the classes more enjoyable.
I have been taking private guitar lessons from Hector for several years and would highly recommend him to anyone interested in playing whatever genre of music. He has professional experience playing in a band and has won several prestigious music awards for his artistic production as a guitar player. Moreover, he is very patient, attentive to your learning needs, and up-to-date on the latest technology. He is a great instructor for those who value individual creativity and interpretation over simply reading music. Hector has an intuitive ability to help you make connections in order to develop a deeper understanding of what you are playing. First-class instructor!

Figure out if the teacher fills your expectations and do some research of his playing (Band, records?)
Ask the teacher an opinion of your guitar and equipment, 80% of the times you don't learn due to not having the right equipment.
Set some realistic goals and talk about with your trainer, find some one with a system that fits your time to practice and expectations.
