FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I figure out what you know, fill in the gaps, and then build on it.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

3 years of Classical Guitar studies at Kansas City's Conservatory of Music. 7 Years of private lessons on Jazz Theory and Arranging with John Elliott. Thousands of recording sessions. Decades of performing experience - I estimate 8-10,000 gigs since the early '70's. I still play 2-4 gigs a week in addition to teaching 40-50 students a week.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$20.00 per 30-minute lesson. Payable by the month = $80.00 a month. If there are 5 weeks in a month I take one of them off.

How did you get started teaching?

I started my formal teaching career in the ealy '80's as a way to stay off the road, raise a family and yet still make a living with the guitar.

What types of students have you worked with?

Name it. All ages, all genders, all ethnicities.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

It's very gratifying to hear how significant my lessons were to someone's life and career. Check out the Testimonials page at MasterGuitarSchool.com.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Find out about the method. If all they do is teach you songs you're not really learning anything. I'll give you the tools and teach you how to use them so that you can figure out the song for yourself. Anyone can learn a song by rote. Study with me and you will UNDERSTAND the song.
