My goal is to teach my students how to teach themselves. I do not want students who I have to spoon-feed. Rather, by teaching them how to learn they can take the knowledge that I give to them and use it as they see fit.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During our first lesson I evaluate the new student to see what they really know so I can decide what curriculum they are ready to use. Then, we begin working towards their goals at their pace.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have spent the last 13 years learning guitar by playing in various bands and learning from other more experienced musicians.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 for a 1/2 hour lesson, $40 for 45 minutes, and $50 for 60 minutes, this applies to both online and in-person meetings. A new book costs ~$15.
How did you get started teaching?
I have loved playing guitar all my life and so I have dedicated the last 13 years to mastering the instrument.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with people from ages 10 to 65+, it does not matter how old you are, it's never a bad time to learn!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I had a student tell me a story. He related to me that a friend of his has played guitar for a long time and occationally send him videos of the songs he is playing.
Up to this point my student said he would simply reply with something like, "Wow! That's cool!". But this time was different.
His friend sent him a video with a Stevie Ray Vaughan lick and he promply replied with a video of him playing the opening solo from "Black Magic Woman" by Carlos Santana.
My student said it was an amazing feeling being able to have something to respond with. It takes a lot of work but is well worth it!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you purchase an instrument that fits you (or your child). Oftentimes, I see people trying to learn on a guitar that is too big or that has not been taken care of properly and getting frustrated.
