It’s refreshing to work with experienced musicians who allow me to grow at my own pace. What a joy it is to find music again.

The teachers are excellent with a very comfortable atmosphere.

I took voice lessons with Liya at Shock City and I had an excellent experience. Im a singer/songwriter and I had never had formal voice lessons before. I learned valuable exercises to help improve my voice and sound my best. Ive loved singing now more than I ever have. I would highly recommend lessons at Shock City!

I really enjoyed my vocal lessons. Liya was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot of new techniques that I apply to my vocals all the time now. I appreciated her level of expertise and experience. She was super nice and fun to work with. I would have liked to do more in the studio. I was also expecting to have a vocal coach who was a full accompanist, even though Liya and I still had great lessons.

As a karaoke addict and musical theatre lover, I finally decided I was going to take the plunge into taking singing lessons. I looked around at several options in the St. Louis area, but Shock City was the only place that looked like they knew what they were doing, at a reasonable price. Ive been taking lessons for a few weeks now and IM SO GLAD THAT I CHOSE THEM. From the get-go, Genny was incredibly responsive and thorough in explaining all of my options. Im a recent college grad that works at a nonprofit, I dont have a ton of money to spend. Genny helped craft a pricing option for me that worked with my budget, and worked with me to find an instructor that was tailored to my specific goals. She led me to find an instructor, Liya, who has been AWESOME. Already on our first meeting, she made me feel comfortable and has brought a fun and playful attitude to our lessons in addition to her vast expertise. They record all of your lessons for you, so that you can review them and practice on your own time, and you can even message your instructor and ask questions through their TeacherZone program. Ive already made significant improvements and Im having a ton of fun! Thanks Shock City for giving me a platform to pursue my dreams!

Shock City School of Music has been a great program for my son’s musical education. Tyler is an amazing instructor who keeps everything lots of fun. My son has learned the foundations and even gotten to learn songs of his choosing. The lesson space is awesome inside of a professional recording studio. Juan is also a phenomenal guitar instructor. The owner, Gen, is responsive and so easy to work with in coordinating schedules and making sure our needs are met. I work in the music industry and recommend Shock City School of Music to all the professional musicians I work with as well. Hands down the best music school in STL.
