About this pro

From the time Phylicia Hollis gave her first lesson, she knew she was destined to teach.  After receiving a Bachelor's of Music from the University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, Phylicia opened a piano and voice studio and called it The Music House.  Since its conception in 2013 the studio has been renamed to Phylicia Hollis Studios, Inc. and has educated over 500 singers and musicians from ages 3 to 80.  On a weekly basis Phylicia educates more than 100 children and adults with one on one private lessons and group studies.  As a professionally trained musician and singer Phylicia has had the opportunity to travel to Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg with groups such as The University of Memphis University Singers and The Glory Gospel Singers of New York.  Phylicia is the author of Healthy Choices Healthy Voices: Practical Ways for Becoming a Better Singer.  Phylicia is a member of the Tennessee Education Association, and she also works in various capacities of the music and fine arts industry as a workshop facilitator and entertainment consultant.

FAQs


What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Our goal is to provide each student with a quality musical experience.  Each student will receive a well rounded approach in learning music.  The lesson plans are designed to meet the needs of each individual student. The vocal music styles taught include: Classical, Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Muscial Theater, Rock, and Pop. Our schedule fills up very fast.  All prospective students must successfully complete a consultation and pass a cognitive skills test before being accepted into the music conservatory.
