About
My lessons are dynamic and fun. I'm a creative and hands-on teacher who will tap into the innate rhythm and musical spark of my students, to promote their learning.
I customize the lesson according to the student’s interest in style, goals and/or needs. I coach them to be successful in learning to make music, rather than just learning the technical aspects of singing or playing an instrument.
I believe music connects us with the most true expression of ourselves! I'm passionate about coaching folks and sharing that gift, and I love when I see my students reach that "a-ha"moment when something "clicks" and they can play or sing "that" note/song, and feel they are the music!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I listen! I offer the space to share their interests in the chosen instrument, and verbalize their prior connection to the instrument, if beginners, any goal/plan/idea of what they want from the lessons, and learn where they're at. Then I might ask if they can play/sing anything, and or introduce a new concept depending on their level/skill. I believe in giving students -even beginners- a new song to take out of their first lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor in Music (vocal concentration) from Mars Hill University.
Master in Music Therapy from Florida State University.

How did you get started teaching?
While working as a music therapist with children with ASD and asperger's syndrome, I started utilizing some of the MT strategies to teach cognitive, communication, and motor skills using piano and voice. Very short after, I was teaching them musical concepts as well. I then, started incorporating these unique music therapy/education techniques derived from Music Therapy and combined with my craft as a performing artist, to teach music to folks from all walks of live.
What types of students have you worked with?
I love coaching children and adults access their passion for music, the skills to play it, and perform it; mixing the human/artistic element with both conventional and out-the-box personalized successful strategies and techniques. I enjoy teaching piano, drums, and ukulele to small kiddos ages 3-5 yrs old as well as coaching voice, guitar and/or songwriting to teenagers and adults!
