About

Hello! My name is Allison, and I have been composing/ performing and teaching music lessons for the past 20 years. Growing up with my father as a symphony director and music teacher in WI, I have a background in nearly every instrument, with a focus on piano, cello, harmonium, and jazz vocals.

I teach beginning piano, cello, and voice, and have two solo piano albums, "Music from Within" and "Seasons", and a Meditational Kirtan album "Om Shanti", which can be found at: AllisonZopel.bandcamp.com

On cello I have experience playing in the UNCA symphony, and currently teach cello at a private elementary school in Charleston. In voice I have experience singing jazz professionally for 20 years. I also teach and perform harmonium and kirtan music, which is often played in yoga studios.

Allison is tuned into the needs of the person that she is working with. She is very flexible and doesn’t have preconceived notions on how the session should proceed. Her music is beautiful, we own both of her CDs and listen to repeatedly. She is very talented and plays a variety of Instruments as well as writing her own music. I highly recommend Allison and her music will bring you both peace and joy.

She sets realistic goals in a warm, encouraging manner. She also inspires me to explore on my own, and calls out my inner self-critic when needed! Frequently asked questions

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Let's talk on the phone, so I can learn more about you, and your interest and background in music! We can schedule a time to talk, decide on music you would like to learn, and a good time to have our lessons! I look forward to hearing from you!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My father was a symphony director, and I learned a background in every instrument by age 10. I have been performing from age 2, and have been enjoying teaching for 10 years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Standard lesson prices are:

$40 for 30 mins- recommended for beginner and younger student lessons, once a week.

$45 for 45 min- recommended for students who would like a little more lesson time to learn new music, once a week.

$60 for 1 hour- recommended for experienced students working on music that requires more time.

What types of students have you worked with?

Whether a child or an adult, I love teaching beginning students who would like to learn an instrument for the first time, or if you are somewhat familiar with an instrument or singing already, and would like to learn more about it and new music! I would be happy to help you learn from the beginning.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I love the new candlelight string quartet and piano performances in Charleston and also offered in many other cities around the world! If you haven't seen one yet, I would highly recommend!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
