JamSessionz
About
We offer a "goals-oriented" approach to music lessons. If you are only interested in learning Jazz, then I am not going to focus on Classical...and so forth.

In addition to JamSessionz, we offer private music instruction on the piano, bass, guitar, drums, voice, and other instruments. Arrangements can be made to teach one instrument one week and a different one the following week, as well as offering weekly or every other week instruction. We provide these options to accommodate the student's interests, budget, and schedule. Let us know what works best for you!
While JamSessionz teaches all the basics encompassing theory, rhythm, notes, scales, chords, etc., the emphasis is on “jamming” with the band, improvisation, tuning methods, vocals, and other group techniques. The band atmosphere enables each student to play in context with other instruments. Instruction accommodates individual abilities and style, so beginners through advanced players are welcome. This is not a disorganized “free-for-all"; a professional musician/record producer actively teaches and mentors each student.
I get to pass on the legacy of music to the next generation!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each session is organized in three parts: 1. Preparation- this may include proper techniques in tuning, setting tones and volume, proper positioning, warm-ups, etc. 2. Lesson- this may include theory, technique, chords, scales, drills, and other activities. 3. Application- time to apply what you have learned and JAM! Some students have brought in their original music to share with the group and play. A hands-on professional instructor/musician leads the JamSessionz.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing music for over 30 years and enjoy all the instruments that I have learned to play. I started out on piano lessons and branched off to the guitar, trumpet, bass, drums, banjo, ukelele, and other band instruments. I played professionally on a cruise ship and currently play in several bands performing locally. I like to learn about students' musical goals and focus on that. if they want to learn Jazz, then there is no need to focus on Classical...and so on.
