About

With several years of teaching experience in the Public Schools of North Carolina, as well as being an active musician involved in a numerous of community and church gigs, I have devoted a large portion of my life to helping beginner, intermediate, and advanced singers and pianists learn practical techniques, hone their skills, discover their own unique “skill,” and prepare for the business of being a professional. I greatly enjoy helping musicians of all ages discover their passion for bringing music to life. I take great pride in offering foundational fundamentals that serves a purpose in all genres of music.

Whether 5 or 65 years old, I craft lessons to the specific individual and work diligently on improving your musical skill set through an ongoing assessment. These private musical lessons are highly efficient and provides creative strategies to understanding the desired skill met with the student’s initial goals for singing or playing.

As a music educator, students of all ages are always excited to learn and perform. With a little help from the keyboard, I’m confident that Six Forks Music Studio would be an excellent fit for you or your child.

He is just amazing! He has patience and love in his heart. I couldnt say enough good things about this man. My children werent even in his class at school but he allowed them to come in on breaks and show their talents as well as helping them with what little time they have. When my son needed some things mr. Rodgers went out and purchased materials with his own money. He is all around an amazing human. I know i will never forget him and i am sure my children wont either
Please do all u can for this man especially at this time in our crisis. Idk if he is even receiving a paycheck right now

    Frequently asked questions

First, the student and I will sit down and discuss musical goals and interest to ensure that I can accommodate their specific requests. Soon after, I test the students' natural music abilities by taking them through a mini lesson. After that I discuss the most appropriate curriculum of study depending of the talent, time, expectations, and student interest. I can guarantee that these lessons are tailored to the individual student to ensure productive and effective musical growth.

I have a BA in Music from Methodist University and currently finishing a K-12 educational license for the state of North Carolina. I've have been teaching private voice and piano for several years in different musical environments. I believe that education is vital not only for the student, but for me to also refine my musical skillset. Other Experience: - Contemporary Worship Director at White Plains UMC in Cary, NC - Chorus Teacher at Ascend Leadership Academy in Sanford, NC - Experience as an actor at Raleigh Little Theatre and NRACT

All lessons are 30 or 60 minutes long, and are conducted on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Voice and/or Piano 30 minute lesson = $30 Voice and/or Piano 1 hour lesson = $50 4 non-makeup prepaid lessons = $5 off of original lesson price Recital Fee = $30 (includes piano accompanist and registration) I will travel to the student for an additional $10-$15 dependent on where the student is located. Student is solely responsible for sheet music and related materials. I ask that lessons payment be paid electronically (Paypal or Cash app) before lesson starts or with cash or check immediately after lesson.

I began teaching vocal music in college to university students and community members. I then taught chorus in the NC public school system and local church.

I have taught students of varying styles and ages from kids to adults. I assess where the student is currently at and create an individualized lesson plan to facilitate musical success.

Skill Building: - Developing proficient sight reading ability - Creating effective breath support - Advancing theory understanding - Utilizing aural training - Implementing good vocal projection Performance: - Opportunities to collaborate - Showcase talents at student recitals - Information on local competitions Composition: - Developing your technical skills - Strategies for brainstorming new works - Strengthening your orchestration - Polishing your notation - Rehearsal techniques for working with musicians

I encourage my students to be apart of their own development. Be upfront and specific on how you like to grow. Vulnerability is great and encouraged when trying new strategies for the first time so don't give up if the result isn't achieved immediately. Lastly, it's okay to ask questions and understand what's being asked of you.

How much am I willing to invest in private lesson instruction? What particular music styles am I interested in learning? How often do I plan on taking music lessons? What kind of musician do I see myself being in a year? What day to day practice is feasible for me within my other commitments? What expectations should be met after an initial music lesson?
