I love working with students to find their own path in music. Everyone comes to music from different pasts and with different futures, and I want to help them learn the things they want to learn, while also helping to expand their musical horizons and what is possible for them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first want to find out what they are interested in so that I can start developing a curriculum in my head. We will start off testing their knowledge of the instrument and see if they know anything about it and music. We then move to some simple exercises and songs to get them started practicing at home.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a bachelors and masters degree in music along with over 80 more credit hours of work in music and the education field. I am also a North Carolina certified teacher.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30 for a half hour and $55 for an hour.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as 5 and as old as 75. Some students have had some problems with a physical disability but we have found ways to overcome and produce beautiful music. I have worked with beginners all the way up to college professionals.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that you "click" with. Try to talk to them before you book lessons with them. This way you can see if they are a good fit for your learning style.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a goal picked out and ask the teachers how they would get you to your goal. Maybe it's a song you want to play, or you have something you want to do with your family.
