Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, prior to our first lesson, I communicate with new students to determine their goals. I will send a link for ordering materials online or recommend a store to visit for you to purchase them. At our first lesson, we'll get right to learning and playing!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took private music lessons for 12 years, progressing from beginner to advanced piano student. I gained experience as a performer and accompanist throughout high school and college at church, school, and in the community. I participated in music festivals and drama productions as a vocalist, pianist, vocal coach and music director.
I continued as an accompanist and vocalist in college. Since college, I have provided music for weddings, drama productions, community events, music festivals, and at my church.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I always have specials going on which reward my students for purchasing lesson packs (usualy 5 lessons at a time.)
Semi-annually, I also offer a Buy-One-Get-One lesson pack deal, in which the student purchases a lesson pack (5 lessons) and gets 5 lessons for free.
I keep my rates competitively priced as I believe that music lessons are very important, and shouldn't be a financial burden. The standard price for one 30 minute lesson is 24.50, but taking advantage of a BOGO deal or purchasing a lesson pack can offset this cost by between 15% and 50%.
Please do not hesitate to contact me about any questions concerning rates.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in high school, with my piano teacher's blessing. It was my first real job!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults at varying ability levels, but primarily beginners to late intermediate early advanced. I actually have students all over the world! (Some of my students and I meet online over video-chat.)
I have also genuinely enjoyed teaching music lessons to children with special needs. My first speical needs student won my heart, and taught me a few things, too! I thoroughly enjoy welcoming students with special needs into my studio!
