About
I started playing the piano in 1974 almost 50 years ago. I also played professionally for over 22 years and studied music theory and improvisation at the Harris Music Academy for 4 years so I have a lot of experience that many do not have. I started teaching in 2005 and absolutely love what I do. The biggest element that makes me stand out as a teacher is that I can teach students how to open up with their creative imagination and allow them to open up once the foundations are learned. (Many teachers are strictly by the book and will not let the student think outside the box) and that’s ashame. Any art is the freedom of self expression and should not be prohibited. I offer all new students a free no obligation trial lesson at my studio in Steele Creek.
I love passing the gift of music to another person for I know how much it will enrich that person’s life forever. In my studio I pay respect to my past instructors with photos of them framed and displayed on my wall of inspiration and thank them and God daily for the gift that I now have. It's great to see a student when they come in knowing absolutely nothing and see them enjoying and maturing as a true musician. This makes me very happy.
