My drive to teach comes from a distinct desire to help each student find his or her own voice, making each piece played an extension of the student's voice shining through the music with unique expression and flare. For the intermediate to advanced student, this is generally accomplished using ear training techniques, demonstration and creative collaboration in a mentorship atmosphere of positivity. Emphasis for beginning students is an enjoyable, non-traditional approach that teaches how to play by ear accompanied by applicable music theory basics. The goal is to grab the student's interest and keep it by learning their favorite songs very quickly. Students experience rapid progress and growth with my techniques.Michael Troy, Performer BIO
