About

Music Takeout is a virtual piano studio where all teaching is geared towards specific needs of each individual student. With the convenience of virtual teaching, students can learn from the comfort of their own home or while they are away from their home with access to a piano! During the year the studio hosts multiple virtual recital opportunities and other fun activities for students to participate in! We have a strong military family base as virtual lessons provide consistent piano education throughout their many relocations.

I am the owner of Music Takeout Virtual Piano Studio! I live in Fayetteville, North Carolina with my husband, daughter and our dinosaur of a dog named Pink! I have been teaching piano in private and group settings for over 12 years. I have experience in middle and high school band and elementary school music in the public school system but soon discovered my heart was in teaching piano full time. I first began studying piano at the age of five and pursued my Bachelor’s in Music Education from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a minor in Sacred Music. I continued my studies at the graduate level in Music Theory at University of South Carolina for two years. I am very passionate about music literacy and piano playing being a life long endeavor. By learning to read music well, students will have the knowledge to be able to play new songs without a teacher showing them every step. I also believe piano playing is for all levels and all types of learners. I have a broad range of experience with Neurodiverse students as well as experience with ages 3-87 (my current oldest student!) I look forward to working with you and sharing a positive light on piano playing in what seems like an impossibly busy season!

Frequently asked questions

For beginning students I have several questions I will ask to help me place what type of method series will work best for them to be successful. There is no one set of books for all students, this why I find it very important to place students in correct series and music they are interested in.

Any students who have had previous lessons I will ask to hear them play and we will pick up with music they did most recently and go from there! I will be able to "evaluate" them during the first few lessons and then the be able to make good choices for  their future music and learning.

I have been teaching at a local music academy for over 12 years students in group and private piano. Throughout this time I have had hundreds of piano students. I have experience with ages 3-88! This experience also brought me a broad range of neurodiverse students. With this experience I am able to adapt my teaching based on students specific needs.

Prices are paid for monthly per 30, 45 of 60 minute lesson.

After studying music theory in grad school for two years, I was offered the position at a local music academy to teach the 4-5 year old group piano class. I fell in love with teaching and specifically piano teaching once starting at the academy and have been teaching ever since!

I have a broad range of types of students. I have had very young beginning students with neurodiverse learning styles all the way to high schoolers who went on to major in piano performance and then up to the 87 year old beginner! Each them are different specific needs. I have had experience with non verbal students and students who have a specific physical need that would alter how they play piano.

Not really a "event" but I am very proud of the progress many of my neurodiverse students have made recently!

Find a teacher who truly pays attention to how you learn, smiles and when they ask you how your week was...they truly listen! (Oh and they teach you how to read music!)

What style of music do you prefer to teach?

Do you teach music literacy?

Do you have experience with a range of method books to find one that is geared towards my learning?
