🟥Be prepared to answer a few questions in the application process. After that, I may or may not offer for you or your student to have an intro lesson with me.
🟥I'm not blindly accepting all "walk-ins" that just want to "try" taking piano at this point in my teaching career.
🟥Intro lessons are $50 but just know, if I offer you an intro lesson it still doesn't guarantee that I will accept you or your child as my student.
🟥I'm not in the national piano teacher's guild and I don't want to be.
🟥I currently don't hold any recitals for my students.

Little bit about me...
🟥My education career started at age 16 when I walked into my local music store and asked to teach piano lessons. I was hired on the spot and taught for two years at that store before going off to Bob Jones University.
🟥I hold a B.S. in Music Education, with a proficiency in classical piano and a secondary in voice from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. I do not hold to their beliefs any longer, but I did receive an amazing education!
🟥 I've been a pianist for 54 years!
🟥I’m an educator first and not just a fancy performance major that doesn’t know how to deal with wiggly kids.
🟥I’m a well-seasoned, talented educator! Teaching is an art form in itself! My people skills are something that set me apart.
🟥I educated both of my kids from birth until they were 14, both were accepted into early middle college programs and started real college classes at 14! They both finished undergraduate degrees and one of the two has finished their masters degree and the other is halfway through hers.
🟥Meanwhile, I've been teaching private lessons of all sorts! Along with piano and singing, I also was an online teacher with VIPKid for 3 years and taught 6,441 English lessons to Chinese children. I was one of 160 teachers who were hand picked out of 160,000 online teachers to teach live English classes online to rural Chinese schools.
🟥Since 2020, I've also created, built and taught my own children's courses for Outschool.com from all of my hobbies.
I've taught beginner sewing, cake decorating, chess, Adobe Photoshop and several other fun hobbies of mine. You can find all of my video courses there under my profile "Lisa O". I’ve remained a 5-star teacher for 5 years.
🟥From 2023-2024 I was the number one booked music teacher (out of all of their teachers) at the Music & Arts store on Lawndale Dr. in Greensboro. I left because they took a lot of my pay and didn't clean the store or studios.

Whew! All that to say, I’ve spent more time with kids than most parents have spent with even their own kids and can deal with all of the wiggly ones without any issues. My patience is limitless! 😍
🎹I know exactly how kids operate, how to get the best out of them and what kind of sense of humor they enjoy.
🎹My teacher superpower is that I am able to create a fun, safe and loving atmosphere, no matter the personality or mood of the student.
🎹I do use method books, but I also teach students tried and true, incredible muscle memory hacks that work and that aren't in any method books.
Mainly, I give them the keys to the kingdom, teach them how to learn and practice efficiently and then cheer them on.
🎹Most of all, I teach all of my students about artistry and musicality from the beginning. We have enough robotic pianists that play without passion in this world! I get to know all of my students so that they can play emotionally vulnerable.
✅Adults are most welcome to have lessons with me as well! I even teach adults with memory issues.
Currently, I have several students in their 70's and 80’s taking lessons with me. They enjoy the challenge and their conversations with me. Just know that I don't buy into any of your excuses, as to why you can't practice! 😉

🏡My clean (some public studios are not clean!) home studio is calm and quiet during prime-time teaching hours, so no crazy tuba, screaming clarinets or drum sounds going on.
🐈💞🐈⬛BTW we do have two lovely, sweet and sociable, rescued cats in our home. One loves to support students in their lessons, and some students absolutely adore having Milo with them while they play and sing. He brings joy to their lessons.
I’ve had several students, over the years, who are afraid of cats that have since learned that not all of them are scary!
Also, we do bathe (Yup! You can bathe cats!) our cats regularly as well as vacuum and mop regularly, so most folks that have cat allergies don't have any issues at all. I keep them out of the lesson room when they have lessons.
Come have some lessons with us!
