My goal is to help you learn the foundation concepts of piano so you can play expressively and fluently. Whether you are a beginner or have several years of experience, I will help you move forward in your musical journey. If you study music for personal enjoyment or have ambitions to perform, I can help you achieve your goals as we study classical and modern composers.
Learning music changes our hearts and minds, and through music we become better people with sensitive, beautiful hearts. I teach music because through music, we can make the world a better place.
To me, music is communication. Through music, we can express emotions, celebrate moments, travel to foreign places, and connect with people around the world. Studying music is a lifelong journey. I love getting to know my students and share life with them as we journey together.
Emily Morgan, founder and instructor of Dynamic Piano Studio, has always had a strong love of music. She started taking formal lessons at age 10 and has not stopped playing since! Her goal as a piano teacher is that every student, while learning the mechanics of playing, will also develop a love for piano and a love for music.
This passion for music motivated her to get a B.M in keyboard/vocal education from East Tennessee State University, and a M.M. in piano pedagogy from UT-Knoxville. While at UTK, she worked with Fay Adams in long term training to become certified to teach all the Suzuki piano literature. She is also active in church music, and enjoys playing for services and singing in community choir.
Ms. Morgan is an active member of many professional organizations, including Music Teachers National Association, North Carolina Music Teachers Association, Greensboro Music Teachers Association, and Suzuki Association of the Americas. She is intentional about reading, researching, and dialoging with other teachers about the art of teaching, and is constantly learning new things about how we learn and how to play piano effectively.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters in Piano Pedagogy from University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and am certified to teach all the Suzuki piano literature.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge a flat monthly rate for lessons. Students can choose to sign up for 45 or 60 minute lessons.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with preschoolers- adults and everyone in between! I especially enjoy working with adults who are self-motivated to learn and want to explore and understand music. Music is a wonderful, enriching hobby and the skills learned in music help us become more sensitive, caring, well adjusted people.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are looking for a classically trained teacher who will help you dive deep into understanding music and playing fluently, I would love to talk with you!
I recommend talking with several teachers before you make a decision. Ask each teacher about their background, training, what music they enjoy playing, and what they do outside of teaching. You will be working with this person closely, so consider their expertise. personality and teaching style.
