About
Master Teacher, Valerie Kasmir, founded Lessons On The Lake Music Arts Academy in 2000. Her mission is to enrich lives through the majestic effects of music. She holds a BA in Music Education and a Masters degree in Education. She has been teaching, performing, recording, and writing over 25 years. Her public school teaching experience includes three different school systems. Music is her passion, which exudes through her teaching. Our Academy is in a relaxed and nurturing environment. Our Academy has qualified music instruction in: Piano, Guitar, Drums, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Vocal Coaching.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our process is to place you in a correct lessons curriculum book. We encourage a commitment to practice. enjoy the musical journey!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Music Education K-12 and a M Ed. in Education.
I also, Have qualified instructors on staff.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our Academy is a per semester enrollment in which our Open Enrollment is pro-rated according to start date.
Our lessons are $35 dollars per weekly session X the number of class sessions.
Our registration is $55 per semester
Books range from $8 to $25
The 1st Semester is: August 15, 2016 to February 2, 2017
The 2nd Semester is: February 3, 2017 to June 5, 2017
How did you get started teaching?
I graduated for College in 1990 and got hired right out of College to teach Middle and High School Music Education in Athens, Ga. Then Moved to Ohio and taught Elementary Music Education for 10 years. Then Moved to NC. and taught for 3 years as a Music Elementary teacher. I decide, in 2000 I would open my own Music Academy; which I did. I've been in business now for the past 16 years.
And love every second of it!
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with children ages 12 months (Music and Movement) to 80 year old adults. Men and Women and boys and girls!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The most recent event that I am fond of was when one of my student's mom was re-enrolling their son for piano with me...and his endearing comment was, "Mom, Mrs. Valerie is UN-STOPPABLE...I LOVE HER TEACHING ME!"
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for one that fit your goals and needs.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much of a commitment should I put aside for practice.
