About this pro

I have taught piano lessons for many years in three states. I have taught in after school programs, YMCA, and in my private studio. In April 2020 I had to close my studio due to Covid. In June 2021 I resumed giving piano lessons using my church at 2817 Durham Rd., Wake Forest, NC.

I teach ages 4-adult and priced are $15 per 1/2 hour weekly lesson and $30 per weekly 1 hour lesson. There is a one time $25 registration fee to help offset the cost of beginning books and materials.

Please feel free to call at 919-923-0093 or email at [email protected]

My website is pianoprogression.mymusicstaff.com

My specialty is working with ages 4-10 and using the Wunderkeys curriculum. I love working with children and watching how they get excited and learning about music and being introduced to the piano.

Ms. Plunkett made us feel welcome and comfortable. I like how she incorporates learning the basics with fun activities.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Piano Progression Raleigh and Ms. Retta! My oldest daughter was originally taking piano lessons at one of the largest music studios in Wake Forest. She tried 3 different teachers during her time there. Not one of them took the time to really see who my daughter was, what her specific needs were in regards to learning, and didn't use positive reinforcement in their teaching. My daughter needed a teacher with patience and someone who approached teaching with love and kindness. Now both of my daughters take lessons with Ms. Retta. They love her, the music they are learning and Ms. Retta's teaching style. Ms. Retta took the time to build a solid foundation before moving on to harder lessons. She doesn't make my children feel bad if they didn't accomplish the goals she sets for them. She simply encourages them to do their best! We have been taking lessons with Ms. Retta since April 2015. Over the last 3 years, not only has Ms. Retta taught them piano, but also confidence and how to be proud of themselves! Ms. Retta is so much more than a "piano teacher" and I highly recommend her!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I try to adapt lessons to each student's age, ability, and interests. We use games, worksheets, manipulatives, puzzles and other approaches prepared for each individual student. At times we work with computer theory and Youtube videos to gage progress and build excitement.
