About

Hey there, my name is Wyatt! I’ve been playing music for 15+ years now—I began my journey with an acoustic guitar and some YouTube videos, and slowly picked up piano, drums, singing, bass, and ukulele along the way! In 2011 I started playing alto saxophone in middle school band—this experience taught me to read sheet music fluently and understand music with greater depth and breadth than ever before. Throughout middle school, high school, and college, I was taught by some of the best instructors I could’ve asked for; they really helped me to see the hidden beauties and intricacies of music and gain a far greater understanding of how to effectively teach and organize it into something fun, rewarding, and unprecedented! I had the opportunity to be a drum major in high school for three years, and this was sort of my introduction to teaching and leading a band of individual instruments. I was given the John Phillip Sousa Award my senior year to recognize superior musicianship, leadership, and dedication to the world of music, and the next generation of musicians. Into college, I studied Music Education with a concentration in saxophone. It was in college that I learned to play with moderate fluency the flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, piano, and snare drum. Music is so important to me and my daily life—I believe it surrounds us and heals us in ways that we can’t explain just yet. Nonetheless, we can still reap the benefits of music by learning the ways that it functions, how it is notated, thought of, categorized, and described; and by coming to music with an open and receiving heart so that it may grace us with its subtle, delicate brilliance. I would love the chance to share with you what music is to me! Feel free to ask me anything!
