Instructor Luis is phenomenal! I have been under his guidance for over a year. I am an older adult student and his patience and understanding is great! He really taps into my learning style of hands on with techniques, theory and practice. I enjoy the way he talks about his own personal development and how it has shaped him as an instructor! I enjoy my weekly lessons and conversations!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each student is different, yet for younger pupils we tend to prefer to work with Faber&Faber piano adventures although I am open to other methods; there is an adult version of this method that students also like. There are also students who focus on repertoire and receive handouts for theory, to make sure they know the musical terms in their sheet music, and scales.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am at Master level in European Music Conservatory as I enrolled at a young age and completed 10 years of training.
I also got my Bachelors at UNC-W.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are $60/hr, $30/half an hour, and $45 for 45 minutes.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching as part of my Conservatory practicum and opened my own studio, in California, in 2012.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages, levels, and aspirations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Our last Winter Recital was wonderful and I look forward to the possibility of a Spring recital.
I do lots of events as a church musician and we did a Spanish wedding, today, that was wonderful.
This year I played as part of orchestra in theater productions at historic Thalian Hall. I was also featured as solo pianist in other theater productions.
In the past few years I won the Richard Deas Concerto and played with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be open to discover new things about music while sharing what inspires you.
