About

I started Snow Productions and lessons in 2010, to create a professional, safe, faith based, family oriented program for all areas of music performance. I have a degree in piano performance/music education and a minor in voice. I teach private lessons in piano and voice in my home, starting at age 6. I work all levels of piano with children and adults. In voice, I focus more around the styles of Broadway/Disney/Gospel music. The production program is now non profit with a board of directors and is housed at 4609 Wrightsville Avenue. I produce 3-4 full Broadway Musical Theatre shows each year for ages 4-graduating seniors, as well as direct an audition based gospel choir for ages 8-college age. My strength is my enthusiasm and energy combined with my knowledge and drive to make kids want to be their best! I also have judged our local piano federation events for the past 2 years. I am always looking for new students whether beginners or have experience. I will travel to your home but the cost is higher per lesson.

It's very hard in today's technology world to get students to continue in piano lessons. My goal is to not only teach the skill, but also the importance of learning dedication to work and master something difficult, and help them to see the outcome of that process.

I took both vocal and piano lessons for five years with Kathy Snow. Before I came to Kathy, I had bad pitch problems and little to no knowledge of vocal technique. Kathy knew how to fix my issues and taught me techniques that greatly improved my voice. Not only that but through training with Kathy, I discovered my passion for the performing arts and musical theatre. Kathy was fabulous at supporting my goals and uplifting me, and giving me many opportunities to work on and use my craft. I now attend a musical theatre college in NYC! I couldn’t have done with without my first lessons with Kathy.

Kathy Snow manages to make lessons both educational and fun. My mom switched me to lessons with Kathy after a much harsher old-school teacher made me want to quit taking piano altogether. Kathy not only restored my love for the instrument, but also instilled in me a love of performance. She took the technical foundation I already had and used it to help make me the best pianist I could be. She turned practicing from something I had to do into something I wanted to do. If not for taking lessons from Kathy, I would have likely quit playing piano before finishing middle school. Instead, I am now working on a Piano Performance degree at Wake Forest University.

Kathy has a contagious energy and way of getting kids excited about piano, voice, and theater. My kids have all taken from a young age and because of Kathy’s inspiration they have gone on to pursue singing and acting both on stage and film. She genuinely loves and cares for her each and every child she works with. She knows how to encourage each individual child to improve without pressuring them. Your kids will love working with Kathy!

Kathy is absolutely incredible with the kids! She is so patience and makes it so easy for my daughter to understand and learn, and she feels so good about her accomplishments. We have loved the last 4 months, and are so impressed with how much our daughter has learned .... so much so that our son is now starting lessons, too! We highly recommend Kathy Snow!

Frequently asked questions

If the student has not had any previous lessons in piano, then I usually use the Alfred Basic Library Series beginning with the Lesson, Theory, and Recital book. However, within a short period of time, I try to venture into something that can accent the level with pieces that will excite the child/teen/adult. If they have taken from a previous teacher, the first lesson is to find out what the student really knows and access what level they should be in and then continue with my teaching process.

I have a degree in piano performance/music education with a minor in voice from Campbellsville University in Kentucky.

Cost is $120 per month for 30 minute lessons per week.
