About
Online students can learn how to create their own music and use technologies such as Logic Pro X and Finale. Composition lessons, music theory lessons, and piano lessons are offered online anywhere or in-person for those who live in or near Winston-Salem, NC. Lessons are either 45 minutes or 60 minutes.
All ages and levels are welcome, but David's passion is for adult beginners. He gives adults the joy of becoming a musician, proving that it's never too late.
Composition Lessons include 5 components: 1. Composing exercises to build technique and sense of style. 2. Score study. 3. Theory, Counterpoint, and Orchestration. 4. Using technology. 5. Practical approaches to your choice of film scoring, writing songs in any style, or arranging music for others.
Music Theory lessons are available, and especially helpful for anyone in an AP Music Theory course.
Piano Lessons are tailored to each individual, may include some method book usage but will ultimately fit your needs and goals.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each student is unique. The first few lessons for beginners involve learning some basics as I get to know you and decide our best direction going forward. For those with experience, we will chat and determine your goals and the best path for you.
