Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Establishing what they know already so our time spent together is more efficient. Then we discuss the student's goals and I create a custom gameplan for them to achieve it as quickly as possible.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing guitar and singing for 20 years. Both teacher and self taught. I was the Music Director at the Paul Green School of Rock in Cherry Hill and am currently the Music Director for the touring showband, Almost Angels.
Professionally speaking, I have performed countless shows at venues like Metlife Stadium, Mark G Etess Arena, The TLA, World Cafe Live, Six Flags Great Adventure, The Trocadero, and many more.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$50 for an hour lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
At 19 years old I began teaching at a local music store in Vineland NJ after a few of the teachers there recommended me for the job. I worked there for the next 7 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
Children, teenagers, college students, adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Playing at Metlife Stadium during Monday Night Football!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure your teacher has a solid resume and is a full time musician. Visit their website, Youtube channel, Facebook or Instagram and check out their playing. Is it impressive? Does it inspire you?
Tell your teacher what you want to learn and ask them if they are comfortable teaching that. If you want to learn the Blues, for example, don't start taking lessons with a Classical guitar player. If you want to learn how to read music, don't take lessons with a Rock guitar player. (JUST KIDDING!)
They should also connect with you on a personal level and be open to guiding you, rather than forcing you, into a curriculum. Look for other intagible benefits too, like being able to record your lessons to track and even making demos of your songwriting.
Also if a teacher is charging a low price for their lessons, chances are they are just doing it for fun and aren't that serious of a player...you get what you pay for!
