About

I am a professional violinist, vocalist, violist, arranger, and composer with a Masters Degree in Performance. My students have appeared in films, gone on to music school, and have won competitions! I pride myself on performing and teaching in most styles and I work with students of all ages. I try to individualize all programs to suit the specific students needs. I have taught many beginners and all stages of education all the way up. I even worked with the first person to receive a Doctorate in Classical Violin from Yale who was learning how to improvise. I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals however big or small they may be!

    Frequently asked questions

I like to talk with them first and find out what their goals are.  Anything after is based on that!   I do believe reading music makes learning ANY piece easier so I encourage all of my students to get a small cheap keyboard for ear training purposes.  I believe we play as good as we hear (and hearing and listening are DIFFERENT as a musician).   Once goals are discussed I like to have a student (if NOT a beginner) perform for me so I can assess their strengths and weaknesses as an instrumentalist and as a performer (two DIFFERENT but very important things!)   Once we know our strengths and weaknessess we can work on showing off the first and strengthening the weakness!

I have a Masters Degree in Music and have worked in Early Education as well as higher education.  I taught music for young learners, for disabled learners (i personally like the word handicapable better!!!   we ALL have strengths and weaknesses) some are just more pronounced!  I have ear training, theory, composition, song-writing, and instrumental performance experience as WELL as teaching experience!

I charge $45/55/65 based on 30/45/60 min lessons BUT you get $5 off EACH lesson for the first month AND if you pay in cash at the beginning of the month you get another 5% off the entire month!!!

I started teaching when I took a strings pedagogy class in undergrad.  Had one of the most acclaimed pedagogy teachers for violin and viola as my teacher on how to teach.  My first student had only three fingers on her right hand but after her time with me viewed it as a bonus (makes it easier to balance i told her.. physics proves that... and I showed her how)  getting her out of this "im not capable" idea was (and is ) the most important thing I can do for my students... then with the tools i give them they can learn and play and make music FOREVER!!!

all kinds... all ages.. all backgrounds and all sorts of different goals... it would be faster to tell you what I haven't worked with........
