About

Hi, my name is Jon. I started playing tennis at age 3 and fell in love with the game. My passion for tennis sets me apart, and I can teach and perform all aspects of the game. I communicate in a way that suits each student's preferred learning style, combining fun with learning to ensure constant improvement.

Your lesson will be tailored to your needs and goals. I have worked with players of all ages and skill levels and love helping anyone who wants to learn and enjoy the sport I love.

I played High level junior tennis and achieved a #1 ranking in boys 18 under in the eastern section and got up to #6 in the nation in boys 18s usta. I then played in college at the D1 University of Indiana on a partial scholarship

After double majoring in psychology and neuropsychology, I decided that instead of continuing schooling for more degrees I decided to try coaching tennis applying this knowledge and something that I love doing. It turned out to be a perfect match and I've been coaching for about 20 years and anyone who plays tennis at all knows how important the mental and competitive aspect is so I use my psychology degree more than I even expected.

I've coached people of all ages and all ability levels anyone who wants to learn the game tennis that I absolutely love but I tend to work more with high level Juniors or adults that play sectional and National tournaments hoping one day to possibly play in college and it probably coached close to 40 players that ended up playing in college which is the best you could achieve as a junior besides going pro which is very difficult

I use all different types of teaching modalities feeding directional hitting Point play Pacific stroke or strategy structure Point play filming and film review bi-weekly analysis and write ups and basically try to find whatever the best method or combination of methods works the best for the individual person to get the most out of them because everyone is unique and I try to find the best combination that works the best for each individual person where they achieve the most Improvement and also enjoy the process as well because well improving and trying to get results is an important goal for many it's a game that is meant to be enjoyed so it's important that while we're on the court you're in a positive State and enjoying the process

Even though I'm not as good as I was 20 years ago even at the age of 42 I still practice a decent amount with other coaches and probably have a overall utr level of a low to mid-12 utr so I do a lot of hitting and point playing with people of all levels because I feel it's important to be able to be able to perform and execute all the different shots and strategies in a Point Play situation so I try to incorporate that as best as I can, adjusting my level to be as close to the students level as possible by the beginner or highly advanced.

And again I try to structure the lesson around what the person wants to do because it's your lesson and you should decide what you want to focus on whether it's be to work on a specific shot to develop certain parts of your game to get a good workout to learn better methods of mental toughness and competing or any combination, I try to structure the lesson around your wants and needs and whatever you want to do or work on on that specific day and try to use all the different drills and teaching techniques (as I am always learning new ones) to help you accomplish this.

So whether it's to get a good workout cuz tennis is a way better workout than the gym and a lot more fun, to get better, to achieve a high level in junior tennis and play in college, or if you're an adult to improve your level play higher on your team or get better results, or any combination as long as it involves tennis 😀, I would love to get out there with you and help you learn, enjoy and use the many benefits of tennis the sport that I love.
