Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We always begin by taking an assessment of of the student's skill level and then proceed with the basics of technique such as breath control and placement. We then delve into repetoire.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 20 years experience as a professional performer in the industry as well as 8 plus years of teaching. I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and I continue to train myself so that I may be current and share the most up to date information on vocal care, technique and industry insider information with my clients.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do have standard pricing, however, I never want a student to be discouraged from pursuing their dreams due to lack of finances. Contact me to work out lesson lengths and pricing that works for both of us!
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching because I love the energy and enthusiasm of aspiring artists. I feel called to share all that I have learned through my own experiences with up and coming performers to help them avoid industry pitfalls, and equip them with the skills necessary to healthily navigate a life in the arts and achieve all they dream!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages, skill levels & genres.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Not a performing event, but my husband and I had a baby boy in August 2018. He arrived 10 weeks early but if now a happy, healthy, miraculous 7month angel. He has brought new meaning to our life, and, it appears he likes to sing! Our little guy is quite vocal!!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher who really listens to your goals and desires and not only has experience teaching (with a success rate of healthy, successful singers) but also has an in depth understanding of the enetertainment industry to help efficiently guide you in the direction of your dreams and equip you with all the tools needed including emotional preparedness.
