What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student is different because every brain and body are unique. I believe in teaching to the interests and capabilities of every emerging guitarist that crosses my path.

How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching since I was 17 years of age, and acquired my method through years of apprenticeship with my father, the legendary New Mexcian guitarist and educator Steve Maase
What types of students have you worked with?
My youngest student is 7 and my oldest is 65. I have worked with students of all ages, levels, interests, and in all walks of life. I have the highest success rate with students who have a desire to make a long-term commitment to the instrument. I am not a 'quick-fix' teacher, and I have news for you--there are no quick fixes on the instrument!! Fundamentals are important to me. Equally important to me is the idea that your music belongs to YOU, and that I am just an experienced facilitator here to help you get further down the road toward reaching your goal.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You get what you pay for! Find someone who is kind, experienced both as a player and an educator, and who has a track record with helping their students achieve success. My experience has shown that beginners are actually the hardest and most rewarding students because their first steps toward success are in my hands. It's important to start things right, and to make sure neither the teacher or the student bite off more than they can chew.
