For many years I have taught guitar students how to play well. I offer patient, one-on-one private lessons to all, young and old. All genres... from blazing solos to traditional Classic Rock, Country, Blues and Jazz Standards. Beginners to advanced players are welcomed.

As of recent, August 2020, I have received 4 NMMA nominations (New Mexico Music Awards). 1 for Best Blues Song and 3 others for productions I have worked on. Thank you New Mexico!

I'm not sure who said this, but I remember this from a very young age... If you can do something you love, and love what you do, you will never work another day...

so of course I love what I do, however, the rush I receive from properly playing a diffuclut, or a new tune together with a student is a very exciting moment. And these are the moments I cherish.

I have been playing guitar off and on for a long, long time. But I never felt like I was getting very good. Ive had a handful of live instructors, plus Ive tried websites, apps, games, videos, etc. After a years-long gap in which I never even picked up a guitar, I started playing again and I wanted an in-person teacher.

I have never had a teacher as effective or as fun as Richard. We arent working from a book or prescribed curriculum, and it really shows. I know he is customizing his instruction to me. This makes each lesson fit my immediate needs perfectly. Im motivated to practice and look forward to my lesson all week.

With his help, I felt like I got back to the best I ever had been in just a couple of weeks, and a few weeks after that I think Im better than I have ever been. Progress feels fast and playing what I want to play, real songs that I cant get out of my head, makes it incredibly fun.

No matter your situation, no matter your skill level, I recommend Richard without reservation. I feel like I finally found a teacher who wants me to play well as much as I do.

I feel so lucky that we found Richard. My daughter loves music but can struggle to stay focused, and she loves her lessons; hes great at redirecting her when she gets enthusiasticly off topic. She has learned a tremendous amount in a short time, and I feel like shes found that something special that she really enjoys. The way that he works with her is a big part of that. I highly recommend him!

Wow! I finally found my excellent guitar teacher. I have tried two guitar teachers and I never got anywhere. One of my “teachers” only wanted to drink coffee and chat. My second teacher rushed me from one lesson to the next, without learning the chords. I decided I would quit trying at the great age of 68. That is until I told my husband I would give it one more try or stop trying altogether. I thankfully found Richard Blair! Not only is he professional, he is an inspiration. His teaching style is extremely positive and encouraging. Even fun! Richard has this little old woman of 68 playing ELECTRIC guitar (and acoustic). I would, and have, recommended Richard for any age wanting to learn the guitar. Richard is such an inspiration, all I can say is, “Santana watch out!”
